Bonzi beats Molcan in four sets in US Open first round
Benjamin Bonzi came through a four-set opening test at the US Open, beating Alex Molcan 6-4, 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 after conceding the second set. The Frenchman's serve was the difference: he struck 14 aces to Molcan's three and won a remarkable 88.2 percent of his first-serve points, against 61.5 percent for the Slovak. Bonzi landed 59.3 percent of first serves and added 54.3 percent behind the second, with only three double faults, matching Molcan's tally. With his delivery dictating the last two sets, Bonzi tightened his grip and booked a place in the second round.
