Michelsen beats Nakashima in straight sets at US Open
Alex Michelsen came through an all-American third round encounter at the US Open, beating Brandon Nakashima 6-3 6-4 6-4 without dropping a set. The difference lay in what each man did behind his delivery: from an identical 60.5 percent of first serves in, Michelsen won 87.8 percent of those points to Nakashima's 69.4, and he was similarly secure on the second ball at 65.6 percent against 53.1. Nakashima's 10 aces to four could not offset that gap, and both players coughed up four double faults. For Michelsen, it was a controlled statement in the Round of 64.
