Potapova races past Semenistaja 6-2 6-2 in US Open opener
Anastasia Potapova needed little more than an hour's worth of tennis to move past Darja Semenistaja 6-2, 6-2 in the US Open first round. The difference was raw serving power: Potapova struck 10 aces to none for her opponent and won 73% of her first-serve points, enough to cover a modest 51.4% first-serve percentage and four double faults. Semenistaja found the court more often, landing 65.3% of first serves, but won just 56.2% of those points and only 29.4% behind her second delivery, a leak that made her holds precarious throughout. Potapova moved into the second round having dropped only four games.
