Oliynykova beats Brantmeier 6-4 6-4 in US Open first round
Oleksandra Oliynykova came through her US Open opener in straight sets, taking out Reese Brantmeier 6-4 6-4 in the round of 128. The Ukrainian's edge came from the platform of her delivery: she landed 68.5 percent of her first serves and won 58 percent of those points, while Brantmeier found the box only 44.3 percent of the time and took just 51.9 percent behind it. Brantmeier's second ball offered no shelter either, yielding only 41.2 percent, against 47.8 for Oliynykova, whose four double faults never proved costly. It was a clean, controlled way into the second round.
