Gea recovers from two sets to one down to oust Cerundolo

Arthur Gea came from two sets to one down to beat Juan Manuel Cerundolo 6-3 2-6 3-6 6-3 6-1 in the US Open first round, closing with a decider that got away from the Argentine. The Frenchman's first delivery was the difference: he landed 59 percent of them and won 78.5 percent of those points, against 50.4 percent in and 66.1 percent won for Cerundolo. Behind the second ball the picture flipped, Cerundolo taking 54.1 percent to Gea's 40, and both men coughed up eight double faults. Gea's seven aces and steadier platform carried him into the second round.
