Sweeny gets past Moutet 7-6 6-4 in US Open first round

Dane Sweeny came through against Corentin Moutet 7-6 6-4 in the US Open first round, the Australian never letting the Frenchman find a foothold on his own delivery. The difference lay in the second ball: Sweeny won 54.8 percent of his second-serve points, while Moutet managed just 37.8 percent and coughed up eight double faults. Moutet's first serve was the sharper weapon when it landed, worth 64.0 percent of points and five aces, but he put only 52.6 percent of them in, against 66.3 percent for Sweeny. It was a composed opening-round win for the Australian on the biggest hard-court stage.
