Schoolkate outlasts Basavareddy in four sets at US Open

Tristan Schoolkate came through a four-set opener at the US Open, edging the first set in a tiebreak, surrendering the second 6-3 and then taking control with 6-3, 6-4 sets to close it out. The Australian's serve was the backbone of the win: 25 aces, 62.2 percent of first serves landed and 83.5 percent of those points won, with only four double faults. Nishesh Basavareddy was competitive behind his own delivery, striking 16 aces and winning 58.7 percent of second-serve points, but seven double faults and a 59.3 percent first-serve rate left him exposed.
