Starodubtseva routs Seidel 6-2 6-2 in US Open first round
Yuliia Starodubtseva needed just two one-sided sets to see off Ella Seidel 6-2 6-2 in the US Open first round. The Ukrainian's serve was the foundation: even with only 54.9 percent of first deliveries landing, she won 75.0 percent of those points and an unusually high 73.9 percent behind her second, striking four aces against a single double fault. Seidel, by contrast, was undone on her own delivery, winning just 36.4 percent of second-serve points and coughing up seven double faults to one ace. The straight-sets win sent Starodubtseva into the second round in New York.
