Cobolli recovers from two sets down to beat Comesana at US Open
Flavio Cobolli dug himself out of a two-set hole in the US Open first round, losing 3-6 2-6 before turning the match around 6-3 6-4 6-4 against Francisco Comesana. The Argentine had the sharper weapon early, striking 12 aces to Cobolli's seven, and he finished with the better second-serve return of investment, winning 55.2 percent of those points to the Italian's 49.3. But Comesana's seven double faults and a first serve that landed only 56.8 percent of the time gave Cobolli openings late. Serving at 67.4 percent behind his first ball, the Italian held firm across five sets to reach the second round.
