Khachanov routs Burruchaga 6-3 6-0 6-1 in US Open first round

Karen Khachanov needed little more than an hour's worth of pressure to sweep past Roman Burruchaga 6-3, 6-0, 6-1 in the US Open first round. The Russian landed only 50.8 percent of his first serves but was close to untouchable behind them, winning 84.4 percent of those points and 61.3 percent behind his second, with four aces against two double faults. Burruchaga, by contrast, was undone on delivery: no aces, three double faults, 55.8 percent of first-serve points won and just 25.9 percent behind the second. It was a maximally efficient opening statement in New York.
