Trungelliti recovers from 0-6 to beat Shang in five at US Open

Marco Trungelliti survived a chaotic opening round at the US Open, losing the first set 0-6 and the third 1-6 before turning the match around to beat Juncheng Shang 0-6 7-6 1-6 6-3 6-4. The Argentine's edge came behind his second delivery, where he won 56.2 percent of points to Shang's 50.8, a small margin that mattered in the closing sets. Shang was the more dangerous man on first serve, taking 73.9 percent of those points to Trungelliti's 60, and struck 11 aces to 10, but landed only 52.3 percent of first serves and coughed up six double faults. Trungelliti's reward was a place in the second round.
