Tabilo beats Hanfmann in four sets in US Open first round

Alejandro Tabilo made a confident start to the US Open, defeating Yannick Hanfmann 6-3, 6-2, 6-7, 6-3 in the first round. The Chilean controlled the match from behind his delivery, landing 62.3 percent of first serves and winning 84.5 percent of those points, while taking 55.8 percent behind his second. Hanfmann struck 13 aces to Tabilo's nine but was undermined by a 56.2 percent first-serve rate, six double faults and just 43.5 percent of second-serve points won. That gap explained the third-set tiebreak detour, and Tabilo closed it out in four to reach the second round in New York.
