Halys downs Diaz Acosta in four sets in US Open first round
Quentin Halys came through in four sets against Facundo Diaz Acosta, 6-4 7-5 6-7 6-1, in the US Open first round, losing his grip only briefly in a third-set tiebreak before racing away with the fourth. The Frenchman's serve did the heavy lifting: 18 aces and 82.7 percent of points won behind a first delivery that landed just 58.7 percent of the time. Diaz Acosta was the steadier server by volume, finding 73.8 percent of first serves, but won only 66.7 percent of those points and 42.4 percent behind his second. Halys' nine double faults never proved costly, and he moved into the second round.
