Anisimova routs fellow American Krueger 6-1 6-3 at US Open
Amanda Anisimova needed just two lopsided sets to see off fellow American Ashlyn Krueger 6-1, 6-3 in the US Open first round. The all-American meeting turned on the return games: Krueger landed 66.0% of her first serves but won only 51.5% of those points, and a mere 35.3% behind her second delivery, leaving her under constant pressure. Anisimova was far more secure, winning 75.8% on her first serve and 61.5% on her second despite putting only 55.9% of first balls in and coughing up four double faults. Krueger's four aces to Anisimova's one counted for little in a routine win.
