Nakashima routs Baez 6-2 6-1 6-0 in US Open first round

Brandon Nakashima produced a near-flawless afternoon at the US Open, sweeping past Sebastian Baez 6-2 6-1 6-0 in the first round and conceding just three games. The American's serve was the foundation: 12 aces, not a single double fault, 67.2% of first serves in and 86% of those points won, with a healthy 52.4% behind the second ball. Baez, by contrast, never found a rhythm, landing only 54.8% of first serves, winning 44.1% of those points and 42.9% behind the second, with four double faults and no aces. It was as complete an opening statement as Nakashima could have made on home soil.
