Michelsen beats Cina 6-4 6-1 6-0 in US Open first round
Alex Michelsen turned a competitive opening set into a rout, seeing off Italy's Federico Cina 6-4 6-1 6-0 in the US Open first round. The American landed only 52.8% of his first serves and coughed up eight double faults, but the deliveries that did land were close to untouchable: he won 80.9% of his first-serve points and struck six aces. Cina, by contrast, found the box far more often at 71.4% yet won just 56.7% behind his first ball and a damaging 29.2% behind his second. That gap decided everything, and Michelsen advanced without dropping a set.
