Zheng recovers from a set down to beat Liutova in New York

Qinwen Zheng dropped the opening set but turned the US Open first-round match around, beating Kristina Liutova 4-6 6-3 6-1. Her serve was erratic in shape yet potent in effect: only 46.2% of first serves landed, and she paid for it with six double faults, but she won 75% of the points behind the first ball and struck 10 aces to Liutova's one. Liutova found the court far more often, at 67.8%, without the same reward, taking just 59% of first-serve points and 34.5% behind her second. That gap widened as the match went on, and Zheng ran away with the decider to open her tournament.
