Muchova routs Kraus 6-3 6-0 in US Open first round
Karolina Muchova needed little more than an hour's worth of clean tennis to sweep past Sinja Kraus 6-3, 6-0 in the opening round of the US Open, closing with a bagel set. The Czech was near untouchable behind her delivery: she landed 59 percent of first serves and won 87 percent of those points, added 75 percent behind her second, and never handed over a free point with a double fault. Kraus, by contrast, found only 51.2 percent of first serves and won 47.6 percent of them, offering Muchova regular openings. It was a statement start to her campaign.
