Bucsa outlasts Bejlek in three sets in US Open first round

Cristina Bucsa came through a shifting first-round contest at the US Open, taking it 7-5, 4-6, 6-1 after Sara Bejlek had levelled the match. The Spaniard's serve was the steadier of the two throughout: she landed 66.7% of her first deliveries and won 62.5% of those points, while holding up behind her second ball to the tune of 57.1%. Bejlek, by contrast, found only 55.4% of first serves and won just 43.2% of second-serve points, with five double faults compounding the problem. That gap told decisively in the third set, where Bucsa surged clear and booked her place in the second round.
