Mannarino recovers from two sets down to beat Tirante at US Open
Adrian Mannarino turned around a first-round match that had looked lost, dropping the opening two sets 4-6, 3-6 before winning the last three 6-3, 6-3, 6-3 against Thiago Tirante at the US Open. The Argentine's serve was the story: 19 aces but also 16 double faults, with only 50.3 percent of first serves landed and just 37.3 percent of second-serve points won. Mannarino, by contrast, offered almost nothing back, putting 60.3 percent of first serves in for 75.6 percent of those points and committing a single double fault. The Frenchman's steadiness earned him a place in the second round.
