Fils rallies past Tsitsipas in four at US Open first round

Arthur Fils dropped the opening set 4-6 but reeled off the next three, beating Stefanos Tsitsipas 4-6 7-6 6-1 6-4 in the US Open first round. The turnaround was written on the second serve: Fils won 59.6% of his second-serve points, while Tsitsipas managed only 42.9% and coughed up seven double faults. The Greek's first ball remained a weapon, worth 77.1% of points won and 13 aces, but he landed just 56.8% of them, leaving too many rallies on his weaker delivery. Fils, with 62.4% first serves in and ten aces of his own, took a marquee scalp in New York.
