Etcheverry routs Kopriva in straight sets at US Open

Tomas Martin Etcheverry needed no more than three sets to move past Vit Kopriva 6-3 6-4 6-0 in the US Open first round, tightening his grip as the match went on and closing with a bagel. The Argentine's serve carried him: 10 aces against just two double faults, 76.7% of first-serve points won and a solid 55.6% behind the second. Kopriva, by contrast, landed 55.6% of first serves but won only 45.7% of those points and a meagre 32.1% on his second, offering little resistance. Etcheverry's reward was a routine passage into the second round.
