Munar rallies from two sets down to beat Atmane at US Open
Jaume Munar survived a five-set opening-round marathon at the US Open, recovering from two sets down to beat Terence Atmane 6-7 3-6 6-1 7-6 7-5. The Spaniard's serve carried him through the long haul: 12 aces, 76.4% of points won behind the first delivery and a sturdy 58.8% on the second, even with only 56.7% of first serves landing. Atmane put more first serves in play at 63.7%, but won just 45.5% of his second-serve points and coughed up 10 double faults to Munar's four. The comeback earned the Spaniard a place in the second round.
