Kostyuk cruises past Hunter in US Open first round
Marta Kostyuk needed only two sets to move past Storm Hunter 6-4 6-1 in the opening round of the US Open, tightening her grip on the match after an even start. The Ukrainian's serve did the heavy lifting: eight aces, just two double faults, 64.7 percent of first serves in and 72.7 percent of those points won, plus a healthy 61.1 percent behind the second delivery. Hunter, by contrast, landed only 57.1 percent of first serves, won 38.1 percent behind her second and coughed up four double faults. It was a clean, low-drama start to Kostyuk's tournament.
