Rinderknech recovers from a set down to beat Shimabukuro

Arthur Rinderknech dropped the opening set in a tie-break but recovered to beat Sho Shimabukuro 6-7 6-2 7-6 6-2 in the first round of the US Open. The Frenchman's serve was the difference: 15 aces against just three double faults, and although he landed only 58.3% of first serves, he won 80.6% of those points and a commanding 68.8% behind his second delivery. Shimabukuro struck 11 aces of his own but coughed up nine double faults and won only 48.3% of his second-serve points, a leak Rinderknech exploited in the third and fourth sets. The win put the Frenchman into the second round in New York.
