Parry edges Li 7-6 6-4 to reach Monterrey final
Diane Parry came through a tight, serve-heavy semifinal in Monterrey, seeing off Ann Li 7-6, 6-4 without ever surrendering the initiative once the tie-break went her way. The Frenchwoman's numbers told the story of an all-or-nothing delivery: only 52.9 percent of first serves landed, but she won 80.4 percent of those points and struck seven aces, enough to cover six double faults and a modest 26.8 percent haul behind the second ball. Li was steadier at 60 percent first serves in, yet won just 60.8 percent of those points. Parry's reward was a place in the final.
