Schoolkate edges Draxl in three to reach US Open main draw
Tristan Schoolkate came from a set down to beat Liam Draxl 4-6 7-5 7-6 in the final round of US Open qualifying, surviving a decider that went to a tiebreak. The Australian landed only 53.2% of his first serves but made them count, winning 69.0% of those points, and his second delivery was the difference: he took 58.8% behind it against 48.7% for Draxl. The Canadian struck 12 aces to Schoolkate's seven and put 63.9% of first serves in, yet both men coughed up six double faults. The win carried Schoolkate into the main draw.
