Sakatsume beats Ristic 6-4 6-3 to reach US Open main draw

Himeno Sakatsume came through the US Open qualifying final in straight sets, beating Mia Ristic 6-4 6-3 without ever letting the match slip out of her control. The Japanese landed 61.1% of her first serves and won 75.8% of those points, but the decisive edge came behind the second ball, where she took 61.9% compared to just 30.0% for Ristic. Ristic actually served cleanly, with two aces and no double faults, and won 80.0% behind her first delivery, yet the shortfall on second serve left her exposed. Sakatsume, with three aces and a single double fault, sealed her place in the main draw.
