Zidansek rallies past Andreescu to reach US Open main draw
Tamara Zidansek recovered from a lopsided opening set to beat Bianca Andreescu 2-6 6-3 6-4 in the final round of US Open qualifying. The Slovenian's answer came on second serve, where she won 60.5% of points against 50.0% for Andreescu, a margin that told across the closing two sets. Andreescu was the more explosive server, striking seven aces to Zidansek's two and winning 74.5% behind her first delivery, but she landed only 52.8% of them and paid for the misses. Both players hit just two double faults. Zidansek's reward was a place in the main draw.
