Zheng edges past Pridankina to reach US Open main draw
Qinwen Zheng came through the US Open qualifying final in three sets, taking it 6-4 3-6 6-0 after a shaky middle stretch. Her first serve landed just 43.6 percent of the time, but it was close to unplayable when it did, winning 82.4 percent of those points and producing five aces against five double faults. Pridankina was the steadier server on paper at 62.5 percent, yet she won only 54.5 percent behind both her first and second deliveries and coughed up six double faults, and the final set slipped away without a game. Zheng's reward was a place in the main draw.
