Hunter beats Semenistaja 6-4 6-1 to reach US Open main draw
Storm Hunter came through the US Open qualifying final in straight sets, edging a tight opening set 6-4 before running away with the second 6-1. The Australian's serve did the heavy lifting: she landed 72.5% of her first deliveries and won 62.2% of those points, striking four aces against four double faults. Darja Semenistaja never found the same platform, putting only 58.0% of first serves in play and winning just 44.8% behind them, while both players took 28.6% of their second-serve points. The result carried Hunter into the main draw in New York.
