Koevermans edges Bolkvadze 6-3 7-6 to reach US Open main draw
Anouk Koevermans came through the US Open qualifying final in straight sets, taking the opener 6-3 and then holding her nerve to claim the second in a tie-break, 7-6. The Dutchwoman's delivery made the difference: she landed 63.9% of first serves and won 78.3% of those points, striking six aces to Mariam Bolkvadze's none. Bolkvadze put more first serves in play, at 68.7%, but won only 54.3% of them, and five double faults undercut her cause. With just two doubles herself, Koevermans booked her place in the main draw.
