Harris fires 14 aces to reach US Open main draw
Lloyd Harris booked his place in the US Open main draw with a 7-6 6-3 win over Pablo Llamas Ruiz in the final round of qualifying. The South African's serve was the difference: 14 aces to his opponent's one, just a single double fault, and 75.6% of points won behind the first delivery. Llamas Ruiz found the court more often, landing 68.9% of first serves, but won only 69.0% of those points and could not manufacture the same free points. Once the tight opener went Harris's way in the tiebreak, the Spaniard's grip loosened and a break was enough to settle the second set.
