Iatcenko beats Lazaro Garcia 7-5 6-1 to reach US Open main draw
Polina Iatcenko came through the US Open qualifying final 7-5 6-1 against Andrea Lazaro Garcia, edging a tight opening set before pulling away completely in the second. The Russian's serve was the steadier weapon: she landed 67.2% of her first deliveries and won 72.1% of those points, while also taking 52.4% behind her second. Lazaro Garcia never found the same platform, making only 58.0% of first serves, winning 62.5% of them and just 41.4% on the second, with eight double faults against Iatcenko's three. The win carried Iatcenko into the main draw in New York.
