Bonzi edges Van de Zandschulp 7-6 6-4 in Winston-Salem
Benjamin Bonzi came through a tight straight-setter in the Winston-Salem quarterfinals, taking the opening set in a tie-break before closing out Botic van de Zandschulp 7-6, 6-4. The Frenchman's steadiness on serve was the difference: he landed 64.3% of first serves and won 75.6% of those points, while adding just one double fault all afternoon. Van de Zandschulp struck 13 aces to Bonzi's five, but he found only 55.6% of first serves and won a meagre 36.4% behind the second, with six double faults compounding the problem. The win carried Bonzi into the semifinals.
