Guerrieri beats Dougaz 6-2 6-4 to reach US Open main draw
Andrea Guerrieri came through the US Open qualifying final in straight sets, beating Tunisia's Aziz Dougaz 6-2 6-4 without ever letting the match slip out of his control. The Italian's numbers behind serve told the story: he won 86.2 percent of his first-serve points and a hefty 62.5 percent behind the second, so even a modest 54.7 percent first-serve rate cost him little. Dougaz, by contrast, landed 58.6 percent of first serves but converted only 56.1 percent of those points and 48.3 percent on his second, and his six aces could not offset that. The reward for Guerrieri was a place in the main draw.
