Tauson edges Alexandrova in three sets in Monterrey last 16
Clara Tauson came through a three-set battle in the Monterrey round of 16, taking the opener in a tiebreak, losing the second 4-6 and then closing out the decider 6-3 against Ekaterina Alexandrova. The difference lay behind the first delivery: Tauson won 55.3% of her second-serve points, while Alexandrova managed just 44.2% and coughed up 10 double faults. On first serves the two were nearly inseparable, Alexandrova landing 60.6% and winning 77.3% of those points to Tauson's 55.2% and 75.9%, with the Russian striking 11 aces to the Dane's six. Tauson's reward was a quarter-final place.
