Vidmanova downs Bucsa 6-4 7-5 in Monterrey last 16
Darja Vidmanova came through a tight straight-setter in the Monterrey round of 16, edging Cristina Bucsa 6-4, 7-5 without ever needing a decider. The Czech landed only 47.5% of her first serves, but she made them count, winning 69% of those points against just 51.2% for Bucsa on her own first delivery. Both players struck four aces and coughed up five double faults, and neither found much comfort behind the second ball, Vidmanova taking 34.4% of those points to Bucsa's 32.1%. The efficiency on first serve proved the difference, and it carries Vidmanova into the quarterfinals.
