Piros edges Glinka in three sets in US Open qualifying
Zsombor Piros came through a three-set battle with Daniil Glinka 6-3 5-7 6-4 to move a win from the US Open main draw. The Hungarian leaned on his delivery in the decisive moments, striking eight aces to his opponent's one and winning 81.6% of his first-serve points, even though only 54.4% of those first serves landed. That patchy accuracy, allied to four double faults, gave Glinka the opening he took in the second set, where the Estonian's steadier 63.2% first-serve rate and 57.1% behind the second ball told. Piros regrouped to close it out.
