Kovacevic upsets Tsitsipas 6-3 7-6 in Winston-Salem last 16
Aleksandar Kovacevic knocked out Stefanos Tsitsipas 6-3, 7-6 in the Winston-Salem round of 16, taking the opening set with the only break and then holding firm through a second-set tiebreak. The American's first delivery was close to untouchable: he landed 63.8 percent of his first serves and won 88.6 percent of those points, with 13 aces against four double faults. Tsitsipas struck 16 aces but won only 76.1 percent behind his first serve and 41.4 percent behind his second, where Kovacevic's 48.0 percent gave him the edge. It was a statement win for the American on hard courts.
