Samuel edges Harris in three sets to reach US Open qualifying final
Toby Samuel recovered from a set down to beat fellow Briton Billy Harris 4-6 6-1 6-4 in the US Open qualifying semifinals. After dropping the opener, Samuel took control with his power, striking eight aces to Harris's one and winning 66 percent of his first-serve points. The decisive gap came behind the second delivery: Samuel won 47.9 percent of those points while Harris managed just 30.6 percent, and both men coughed up seven double faults. Landing only 51 percent of first serves, Samuel still found enough on the big points to move within one win of the main draw.
