Dusan Lajovic came through a tight straight-setter against David Jorda Sanchis, 7-5 7-6, to move past the qualifying semifinals at the US Open. The Serb's serve was the difference: he landed 76.6 percent of his first deliveries and won 76.3 percent of those points, striking five aces without a single double fault. Jorda Sanchis found the court far less often, at 62.1 percent, and his five double faults cost him in a match where neither man could break free. The Spaniard actually edged the second-serve exchanges, 54.5 percent to 50, but Lajovic's cleaner platform settled both sets.
