Garin downs Ymer in straight sets in US Open qualifying

Cristian Garin came through the US Open qualifying semifinals with a 6-2, 7-6 win over Elias Ymer, taking the first set comfortably before edging a much tighter second in a tie-break. The Chilean's serve was the difference: he landed 67.2% of his first deliveries and won 75.6% of those points, striking five aces against just two double faults. Ymer, by contrast, found only 55.4% of his first serves, won 61.0% behind them and coughed up five double faults, giving away too much cheap ground. The result carried Garin one win from the main draw.
