Pridankina beats Marino in straight sets in US Open qualifying
Elena Pridankina booked her place in the final round of US Open qualifying with a controlled 6-2 6-4 win over Rebecca Marino. The Russian's first serve was the difference: she landed 64.8 percent of them and won 80.4 percent of those points, while Marino found the court with only 50.9 percent of her first deliveries and took 71.4 percent behind them. Marino struck eight aces to Pridankina's four, but too many second serves left her exposed, and five double faults compounded the problem. Pridankina's own six double faults never cost her the initiative in either set.
