Rincon edges Lee in three sets to reach US Open qualifying final

Daniel Rincon came through a three-set battle at US Open qualifying, beating Lee J. 6-3 4-6 6-1 to move into the final round. The Spaniard's edge lay in the quality behind his delivery: he won 78.3% of his first-serve points and 53.3% of his second, against 66.7% and just 40.0% for Lee. That second-serve gap told in the decider, where Rincon surged clear for the loss of a single game. Lee struck six aces to his opponent's five but coughed up four double faults to two. Rincon is now one win from the main draw.
