Dougaz edges Jacquet in three sets in US Open qualifying
Aziz Dougaz came through a three-set battle against Kyrian Jacquet, 6-4 4-6 6-4, to move a step from the US Open main draw in the qualifying semifinals. The Tunisian leaned on a productive first ball, landing 56 percent of them and winning 73.2 percent of those points, enough to offset eight double faults. Jacquet was the sharper server behind his first delivery when he found it, taking 75 percent of those points and striking seven aces, but he put only 44 percent in play. That gap on second-serve exposure, where Jacquet won 51 percent to Dougaz's 45.5, kept the match on a knife edge until the Tunisian closed it out.
