Guerrieri rallies past Schwaerzler to reach US Open qualifying final
Andrea Guerrieri recovered from a set down to beat Joel Schwaerzler 3-6 6-4 6-1 in the US Open qualifying semifinals, running away with the decider after a tight middle set. The Italian's serve was erratic but potent: only 47.1% of his first deliveries landed, yet he won 75.0% of those points and struck seven aces against seven double faults. Schwaerzler found the court more often at 56.7% first serves, but managed just 62.7% behind them and a fragile 41.0% on second serve, which unravelled in the final set. Guerrieri moved a match from the main draw.
