Bartunkova edges Liang in three sets in Monterrey last 16
Nikola Bartunkova recovered from a set down to beat En Shuo Liang 6-7 7-5 6-4 in the Monterrey round of 16, a match that took nearly three hours' worth of swings before the Czech closed it out. Her serve was the difference once the tie-break passed: Bartunkova landed only 51.9% of first deliveries but won 74.5% of those points and an unusually high 62.7% behind her second, striking seven aces to Liang's two. Liang, by contrast, won 62.5% on first serve and 56.6% on second, and eight double faults undercut her. It is a hard-fought quarter-final berth for Bartunkova.
