Stoiana beats Tan in straight sets in US Open qualifying
Mary Stoiana never let the match slip out of her control, seeing off Harmony Tan 6-4 6-3 in the final round of US Open qualifying. The American's serve was the steadier of the two, landing 66.7% of first deliveries and winning 76.5% of those points, while she also held firm behind the second ball at 58.8%. Tan, by contrast, found only 60.3% of her first serves and won just 39.1% of second-serve points, adding three double faults to Stoiana's two.
