Priscilla Hon came through a three-set battle in the US Open qualifying quarterfinals, beating Alice Tubello 6-4 4-6 6-2 to book a place in the final qualifying round. The Australian's serve was erratic but potent: she landed only 48.9% of first deliveries, yet won 77.3% of those points and struck eight aces to Tubello's none. When Hon missed, she still held firm, taking 52.2% of her second-serve points, while the Frenchwoman managed just 40% behind hers and coughed up six double faults. That gap in free points decided a match Tubello had levelled after two sets.
